Alzheimer’s dementia affects over 6 million people in the US today and is expected to double by the year 2050. This course will explain the different types of dementia and especially Alzheimer’s disease dementia and how it may affect the Chiropractic patient. This course will cover the following topics:
- Dementia defined.
- The different types of dementia and their characteristics.
- The difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
- Alzheimer’s Disease characteristics, stages, and statistics.
- Theories of Cognitive Decline: Amyloid Protein Theory, Tau Hypothesis, and Cholinergic Hypothesis and genetic link.
- Pharmaceutical treatments used for Alzheimer’s Disease.
- Nutritional treatments for Cognitive Decline including:
- Lifestyle changes to decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
This course satisfies the Illinois Chiropractic continuing education mandated requirement.
Functional Diagnosis and Treatment of Muscle Dysfunction: Evalution and Treatment of Inhibited and Hypertonic Muscles – Credit Hours: 2Clinical
This course will provide the clinician the instruction necessary to understand how to diagnose inhibited muscles using static posture and gait analysis and treatment of those inhibited muscles using Origin/Insertion, Myogelosis, Trigger Point, Reactive Muscle Pairs, and Neurolymphatic Reflex techniques. This course will review the basic principles of static posture and gait and the neurology, and physiology of muscles and what may cause them to be inhibited or hypertonic. If you do any muscle therapy in your practice this course will add to your treatment arsenal!
Functional Diagnosis and Treatment of Muscle Dysfunction: The Art of Muscle Testing – Credit Hours: 2Clinical
This course instructs the Clinician how to functionally muscle test common muscles seen in a musculoskeletal practice which will improve the diagnosis of the correct vertebral or extremiy subluxation. It takes a deep dive into the principles of muscle anatomy, neurology, physiology and action. The clinician will learn how to diagnose muscle dysfunctions using the ability to determine inhibited and hypertonic muscles. This course is recommended to be taken with Evaluation and Treatment of Inhibited and Hypertonic Muscles and together, will solidify your ability to make certain you are adjusting the correct subluxation through muscle biomechanics which will improve your patient outcomes!
Implicit Bias Awareness Training – Credit Hours: 1Risk Management
We all have biases, unsupported assumptions we make about people or groups. Implicit bias refers to the various social stereotypes and judgments that people unknowingly assign to others based on a variety of factors. There is no place that bias training is needed more than in our current healthcare system. This 1 hour seminar will give you the understanding of how to make yourself, office, and staff more compliant in cultural diversity. You will understand the differences between implicit and explicit bias and what cause us to be biased to our patients and community. This seminar will give you the tools to change your office’s policie, communications, and services to be more culturally competent and avoid both implicit and explicit bias. This course is approved for Implicit Bias state requirements for Illinois Chiropractic continuing education and is sure to enlighten you.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training – Credit Hours: 1Risk Management
The purpose of this course is to train the Chiropractor on strategies to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace especially with patients and staff. Case studies and Illinois laws relating to understanding and avoiding ethical and sexual harassment issues in the Chiropractic setting will be used. The following topics will be covered:

The Neurological Analysis and Treatment of the Subluxation: Extremities – Credit Hours: 1Clinical
This course will use biomechanics and neurology to aid the clinician in understanding how to locate and correct upper and lower extremity subluxations. Topics include:
- How to properly muscle test and using it to determine the location of the extremity subluxation and the best line of drive used to correct it.
- Prone Leg Subluxation Analysis for pelvic corrections (AS, PI, subluxations) in order to even the legs
- Prone Leg Subluxation Analysis for hips, knees, ankles, calcaneus, shoulders, scapula, ribs, elbows, wrists, TMJ
