The purpose of this course is to provide the Chiropractic profession with the knowledge on how to diagnose and treat a cervicogenic headaches.This course uses research, anatomy and physiology to explain the differences between cervicogenic and other headache types and how to treat this type of headache both medically and Chiropractically. Theories of the causes of cervicogenic headache including Trigeminocervical Nucleus stimulation and the relationship between the soft tissue structures and the dura matter will be discussed in depth. Ethics in Chiropractic reviews the most up-to-date code of professional ethics in the Chiropractic profession and provides Chiropractors with the knowledge of the Chiropractic Code of Ethics. This 2 hour course will cover the following:

• What is Ethics and why is it important in the healthcare setting?

Evaluation and Management of Low Back Conditions Level 1 – Credit Hours: 2Clinical

This course will review the basic principles of the etiology of low back pain and will describe ways to identify what is causing the pain using the characteristics of the different spinal pain syndromes. It will discuss the neurology of pain from the spinal cord to the briain, The perception of pain and how mechanoreceptors modulate the pain. The neurophysiological reasons for pain control. Experimental models distinguishing between nociceptive, neuropathic, scleratogenous and myofascial pain. How to differentiate between radiculopathy, myelopathy and peripheral nerve entrapment and look at the five major causes of low back pain: Herniated disc, facet arthropathy, spinal stenosis, myogenic, and annular tears. This is a must seminar series for any clinician that wants to get their low back pain patients on the road to recovery!

 

Evaluation and Management of Low Back Conditions Level 2 – Credit Hours: 2Clinical

Evaluation and Management of Low Back Conditions Level 2 will investigate the three spinal stabilizing systems and their function in spinal biomechanics. The recent research on how the timing and dysfunction of the different core muscles is associated with low back pain. The very important differences between the pars thoracis and pars lumborum muscles and their role in spinal stabilization. Mechanical loading and the delicate U-shaped balance of proper spinal loading and the causes of low back injury. Compression vs Shear loading and their spinal tolerances and how thoracic and lumbar spinal loads fluctuate with postural changes. Spinal loading in pushing and pulling exercises and the affect it has on spinal musculature and spinal ligaments. This is a must seminar series for any clinician that wants to get their low back pain patients on the road to recovery!

 

Evaluation and Management of Low Back Conditions Level 3 – Credit Hours: 2Clinical

Evaluation and Management of Low Back Conditions Level 3  will review the basic principles of spinal biomechanics identifying what causes the most spinal loading in posture, exercises and movements with an emphasis on the different muscles of the spine and the most efficient exercises to prescribe treat low back dysfunction. How to evaluate spinal biomechanics and the best way to achieve proper pain free movement. The importance of the initial clinician/patient meeting and the nine objectives that must be discussed during that examination process. Crossed Pelvis Syndrome facilitated and inhibited muscles and how to fix this dysfunction. How to evaluate the proper movement patterns in spinal biomechanics such as sitting, standing, rising, walking, scapular movement, hip hinging, bending, and torquing.  A Spinal Exercise Training Program will be prescribed in stages.  Stage 1 Detect and Correct Motion, Stage 2 Build Whole Body and Joint Stability, Stage 3 Increase Endurance
Exercises will be demonstrated to detect and correct motion such as hip hinging, cat/camel, shortstop position, wall rolls, squats, build core stability such as shoulder Y, curl up, plank, bridges, bird dog, and foundation training.
